Learning to respect another’s point of view

Behaviour is the key to change. Good behaviour can bring about a positive change even in the hearts of those who don’t get along with us or hold views that are contrarian to ours. The biggest problem is that we hold on to our viewpoint and don’t pay attention to the views of others.

India vs New Zealand: RCB coach points out biggest test for Virat Kohli ahead of first T20I in Auckland

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach Mike Hesson believes that Virat Kohli will find it difficult to face the New Zealand fast bowlers in the upcoming T20I series. Hesson said that it will be interesting to see how the India skipper will negotiate the first 10-20 deliveries against the pacers but added that if he can get good starts against the Kiwis, the hosts may find it difficult to stop him. India will be taking on New Zealand in the first match of the three-game series in Auckland on Friday.

India vs New Zealand: Challenge for Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma headlines top 3 player battles

Putting into place a T20 side which will have all the bases covered will be the main focus as India prepare to take on New Zealand in a 5-match T20I series. With the T20 World Cup being the top focus for sides, Kohli would want to find out the best combination which can pose a challenge later this year. However, the captain conceded that playing New Zealand in their own backyard was not going to be easy and hence, his side needs to be at their best.

Lit cigarettes, Boy George: Stars flaunt Jean Paul Gaultier creations for designer’s ‘funeral’ finale in Paris

Jean Paul Gaultier bade farewell to the catwalk on Wednesday in typically riotous style, as models performed jigs at his show, an actress sauntered down the runway smoking a cigarette and singer Boy George took part in a mock funeral sequence. The affable French designer, who has long cultivated an image as the ‘enfant terrible’ of the fashion world, announced last week the runway display would be his last after 50 years in the business. The 67-year-old designer brought a large dose of his irreverent humour to the show, as well as outlandish creations, from a futuristic bridal dress worn by model Karlie Kloss to a poppy-clad headdress sported by Spanish actress Rossy de Palma. Dozens of male and female models – including burlesque star Dita Von Teese and drag queen Violet Chachki – took part in the extravaganza at the Châtelet theatre in Paris. Many showcased famous Gaultier looks, from bustiers echoing one designed for singer Madonna’s 1990 stage shows, to trompe l’oeil shirt dresses and Breton striped sailor patterns. Gaultier has yet to detail his plans. On Wednesday he said only that he would keep working in some way within the fashion world, but no longer with the same restrictions, such as putting on regular catwalk shows, and with a focus on fun projects.

Bangkok street food stalls are trying to give up plastic bags, but can’t find alternatives

Two things Thailand is famous for are its delicious street food and its wonderful beaches. Sadly, the first typically comes in plastic bags that often wash up on the second — not good for a country that relies on tourism for a fifth of its revenue. Thailand’s love of plastic bags helped make it the sixth-worst maritime polluter. The country generates more than 5,000 metric tons of plastic trash a day, three-quarters of which ends up in landfills. So the Thai government decided to clamp down, promising to eliminate all single-use plastic bags by 2021, ban plastic straws by 2022 and recycle all its remaining plastic packaging by 2027. Big retailers like CP All Pcl’s 7-Eleven, signed up early to the plan, pledging to stop handing out plastic bags starting Jan. 1 this year, but for the ubiquitous street vendors, the change is not so simple. “There’s no alternative to plastic for hot soup,” Penjawan Pongkanmoon, a vendor of pot-stewed duck on Yaowarat Road in Bangkok, said on Jan. 10. “I’m not for using plastic but I can’t see another way.”

India vs New Zealand: India Predicted XI for 1st T20I – Six bowling options, tough call in middle-order

After an overwhelmingly successful home season post the 2019 ODI World Cup where the Indian cricket team beat South Africa, Bangladesh, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Australia in all formats they played in, Virat Kohli and Co. travel to New Zealand for their first overseas assignment of 2020. Considering the nature of series in recent times, the five T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests in New Zealand should qualify as a long tour. India’s tour of New Zealand begins with the first T20I on Friday in Auckland. The series bears special significance in the lead up to the T20 World Cup in October in Australia this year as conditions in New Zealand will be closest to what India would get down under.

Spirit Tourism: With artisanal brands and micro distilleries popping up, Britain sees spike in visits to distilleries

Many people these days are thirsting not just for a drink but for knowledge about where it comes from. “Spirit tourism’’ is booming across the United Kingdom, with artisanal brands and micro distilleries popping up and many global brands distilled here. Bombay Sapphire distillery, for example, produces its iconic blue bottles of gin in a former paper mill in Hampshire, England. Gin has been enjoying a renaissance, according to the Wine and Spirit Trade Association, and even well-established global brands have been trying to up their game. “When Bombay Sapphire came out 30 years ago, in 1986, there was probably a handful of different gins. Now we’re seeing about 200 new gins on the market every single year in the U.K. alone,” says spokesman Sam Carter. Over 100,000 people a year come through the distillery, he says. Along with tours, Bombay Sapphire offers cocktail master classes, botanical supper clubs, and horticultural tours through the surrounding conservation area.
